the Role
As a Retail Director, you will lead the delivery of major transformation programmes for clients in the retail sector. You’ll manage multi-disciplinary teams and be hands-on with clients, ensuring impactful results. Your blend of consulting expertise and deep retail operational knowledge will be key in diagnosing challenges, identifying opportunities, and leading change.
This is a senior leadership role where you will shape strategy, engage with C-suite stakeholders, and contribute to the continued growth of the client’s retail practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead client engagements across retail transformation programmes—from diagnostic to implementation.
- Manage and mentor high-performing consulting teams across projects.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to retail clients, helping them navigate complex commercial and operational challenges.
- Deliver pragmatic solutions that span pricing, promotions, sourcing, store operations, e-commerce, and operating model design.
- Own stakeholder relationships, particularly at the executive level.
- Contribute to business development through thought leadership and industry engagement.
- Drive program leadership with a strong emphasis on results, impact, and speed of delivery.
About You
- Master’s degree and/or MBA, preferably in Business, Finance, or Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience, ideally split across consulting and in-house retail leadership roles.
- Deep subject matter expertise across multiple retail domains (e.g., merchandising, supply chain, store ops, digital/e-commerce).
- Proven ability to lead complex transformations, from strategic advisory through to implementation.
- Strong commercial acumen and a passion for delivering measurable value.
- A well-established network within the UK retail industry.
- Excellent analytical, presentation, and financial modelling skills.
- Comfortable working under pressure and in high-stakes environments.
- A true team leader with a passion for mentoring others and contributing to a collaborative culture.
- Willingness to travel and work flexibly in line with project needs.
- Strong spoken and written English is essential.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
